The Scottish sculptor Eduardo Paolozzi (1924–2005) began working with Wedgwood in 1970, designing two limited edition plate series, ‘Variations on a Geometric Theme’ and ‘Kalkulium Suite’, a mug and a black-basalt sculpture of Sir Isaac Newton (this was also produced as a large bronze that is now
outside the British Library). Accompanying the set of ‘Variations on a Geometric Theme’ was a neon pink plastic box, which contained a booklet, which gave more background information on designer and his designs.
