Nail Buffer

1900-1915 (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

During the Edwardian period maintaining the correct appearance was vital. Etiquette manuals and fashion journals instructed ladies not only on how they should behave, but also advised on their dress and toilette.

The nail buffer is typical of the type of beauty accessory a woman might own and it is small enough to be carried in a handbag. Many women had dressing cases which contained brushes, combs, perfume and ointment bottles, powder puffs and manicure tools. These were sometimes given as wedding presents.
