Object history
Commissioned by V&A Enterprises through Fine Art Development for sale to the public via the V&A Enterprises Mail Order Catalogue at £3.99. About 5,000 were made, and it proved to be a good seller. It is somewhat strange that the logo used is that of V&A Enterprises, the commercial company set up by the Museum, rather than the logo of the Museum itself.

Part of a large collection of mugs acquired in 1991. This group [C.84 to 105-1991] were brought together from various sources and were presented by the donors - the Curator and Deputy Curators of the Ceramics and Glass Section. The collection aims to illustrate the various uses of the 'Mug as bearer of message' over the past decade.
