Siân Davey (b. 1964) is a photographer based in Britain. Before pursuing photography, she was employed as a psychotherapist for 15 years. This educated perspective on family, friendship, community and relationships has defined her photographic practice. In addition to her degrees in social work and psychotherapy, she holds an MA and MFA in Photography from Plymouth University.
Davey’s work delicately considers the human experience through a deeply personal lens. She photographs her immediate family and community to, in her words, ‘investigate the psychological landscapes of both herself and those around her.’ The results are vibrant pictorial depictions of people and places in the UK that prompt the viewer to consider the subtleties and interconnectedness of growing up, aging, and being human.
