Marks and inscriptions
On recto: 'July twenty second. penitent. St. Mary Magdalen.' On verso: 'St. Mary Magdalen. Penitent. Feast: July 22. She is mentioned in all four Gospels as one of the most devoted of our Lord's followers. Many identify her with Mary the sinner who anointed our Lord's feet as He sat at dinner in the Pharisee's house. What is certain is that she stood with Mary His Mother at the foot of the Cross, and that she was the most glorious herald of His Resurrection. Prayer. St. Mary Magdalen, intercede for us, that we may imitate your spirit of penance and your unswerving devotion to Christ our Savior. Heavenly 89. Printed in Italy.'
