Marks and inscriptions | On recto: 'July ninth. Child martyr. St. Maria Goretti.'
On verso: 'St. Maria Goretti. Child Martyr. Feast: July 9. This little girl was brutally slain by a man who attempted to rape her. She infuriated him by her resistance and died rather than yield to him. It was her murderer who, repenting, confessed his crime and gave testimony to her sanctity. Prayer. St. Maria Goretti, pray for the youth of today who are subjected to violent temptations. Pray that by the grace of God and their own integrity, they may bring others to Christ. Heavenly 88. Printed in Italy.' |
