Marks and inscriptions
On recto: 'August twenty fifth. King confessor. St. Louis.' On verso: 'St. Louis. King Confessor. Feast: August 25. During his forty four years' reigh, Louis IX never, relaxed his private austerity, prayer, and charity to the poor. He was father of eleven children, a devoted husband as well as an obedient son to his mother, Queen Blanche of Castile. Prayer. Frin an earthly kingdom, Lord, You took St. Louis to the kingdom of Heaven. By his merits and intercession, make us sharers in the heritage of the King of kings. Heavenly 85. Printed in Italy.'
