On verso: 'St. Gregory the Great. Pope Doctor. Feast: March 12. Chosen Pope in 590, St. Gregory achieved so many reforms and wonders in his fourteen years' pontificate that he is one of the most commanding figures in world history. Among his great deeds is that of sending St. Augustine and forty monks to bring about the conversion of England. Prayer. St. Gregory, zealous writer, defender of good government, protector of the poor, pray for us! Heavenly 78. Printed in Italy.' |
