Marks and inscriptions | On recto: 'July eighteenth. Bishop martyr. St. Frederick.'
On verso: 'St. Frederick. Bishop Martyr. Feast: July 18. A grandson of King of the Frisians (now Holland), this holy bishop devoted himself to fighting the evil of the incestuous marriages so prevalent in those days. Because of his zeal, he was murdered in his own church by those whose passions and ambitions he had thwarted. Prayer. St. Frederick, pray for us, that we may lead lives of rectitude and conformity to the laws of Holy Mother Church. Heavenly 75. Printed in Italy.' |
