Marks and inscriptions
On recto: 'November ninth. Martyr. St. Theodore.' On verso: 'St. Theodore. Martyr. Feast: November 9. This brave soldier in the Roman army set fire to the pagan temple of Cybele. As punishment, he himself was burned on the site of the temple, thus consecrating it as a Christian place of worship. He is one of the three "soldier saints," Demtrius and George being the other two. Prayer. O God, Who has given us the protection of Your blessed warrior martyr, grant that we may imitate his courage and so come to the reward of everlasting victory. Heavenly 97. Printed in Italy.'
