Marks and inscriptions
On recto: 'December third. Confessor patron of missions. St. Francis Xavier.' On verso: 'St. Francis Xavier. Confessor Patron of Missions. Feast: December 3. This son of a noble Spanish family was winning scholarly distinction at the University of Paris when he met St. Ignatius. Thenceforth his ambition for a worldly career was abandoned. At the command of St. Ignatius he set out for the far East where he made converts amid incredible difficulties. Prayer. St. Francis, inspire us with your own burning love for souls, that we may be true missionaries of Christ's love in whatever sphere obedience places us. Heavenly 74. Printed in Italy.'
