Marks and inscriptions
On recto: 'October ninth. Bishop martyr. St Denis.' On verso: 'St Denis (French form of Dionysius). Bishop Martyr. Feast: October 9. He was converted at Athens by St. Paul and became the first bishop of that city. For his brave defense of Christian truths, he was martyred by the pagains whose errors he attacked. Prayer. Good St. Denis, pray for us that we may have the courage to follow in your footsteps in zeal, as you followed in the footsteps of your great teacher, St. Paul. Heavenly 70. Printed in Italy.'
