Marks and inscriptions | On recto: 'March twenty second. Martyr. Bi. Brian Lacey.'
On verso: 'Blessed Brian Lacey. Martyr. Feast: March 22. Little is known of this saintly man, except that he was an Irish Priest, educated on the mainland of Europe, who returned from his safe refuge to almost certain death in England at the time of the Elizabethan persecutions. He was betrayed, racked and martyred at Tyburn in London. Prayer. Blessed Brian, obtin for us your spirit of constancy and courage!' |
