This gold medal was struck to celebrate the Melbourne Exhibition held in 1888. On the obvers side is the bust of Queen Victoria from the Jubilee Medal.

Medal, gold, Melbourne Exhibition 1888.
Physical description
Godl medal. Obv., portrait bust of her Majesty Queen Victoria, after the design on the Jubilee medal by the late Sir J.E Boehm, R.A., with the exception that the crown on that work is replaced by one taken from the New Zealand war medal; inscribed 'Centennial International Exhbition, Melbourne.' Rev., in the centre the five stars of the Southern Cross surrounded by the motto 'Artibus dignis honor insignis' and a sprig of oak leaves tied by a ribbon to a sprig of wattle. Signed 'Melbourne Mint. Stoke & Martin S.C' and 'C.V'. On the edge is inscribed 'The Educational Department'.
