Century

Jug
1957 (manufactured), 1957 (designed)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

White earthenware jug, wide flattened form, bellied, the top having a heavily stylised curvilinear profile which links the lip, mouth and handle. Matches the "winged" effect of the rest of the service. Transfer-printed decoration of oak-leaf pattern which matches the rest of the service and a blue interior.

The Century shape was among the most elegant and graceful of Eva Zeisel's designs, but it was prone to breakage, and therefore was not her most comercially successful.
