The exquisite decoration seen on this vase is characteristic of the work of the Yabu Meizan workshop, established in Osaka in 1880 by Yabu Meizan (1853-1934). Meizan was a regular participant in international exhibitions and frequently a prize-winner. The vase was bought by their donor at the Japan-British Exhibition held in London in 1910.
