Gallery label | The distinctive green shimmer of these iconic shoes was achieved by carefully and repeatedly layering a red beni pigment produced by the cosmetics company, Isehan Honten. The almost magical colour shift from scarlet to green occurs naturally as the beni dries. The shoes are a lavish homage to the beguiling beauty of the courtesans who favoured this lip rouge.(31/5/2022) |
