Object history
[C.23 to G-1987] Designed following an exhibition "Organic Design in Home Furnishings" held at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, in 1940. As a result of this exhibition, which did not include ceramics, Castleton China Co. asked the Museum to recommend a designer to create a modern-style dinner service.

This bowl was presented as one of the prototype examples from the 'Museum' service and therefore nearest to Eva Zeisel's original intentions. The design underwent slight but noticeable adaptations within the first years of production. See Circ.161 to 163-1983.
Production
Made by Shenago Co. for Castleton China Co.
