Charles Robert Ashbee designed, and the Guild of Silversmiths made, many variations on the theme of a bowl or dish, with or without a cover, a liner and a foot, and with one or two handles. In the Guild's style, the handles here are of double wire, gracefully looped together at their outer extremities and splayed out at the point of attachment to the bowl and foot. The cover is enamelled in translucent blue and has a finial in the form of a calyx set with a cabochon. The bowl embossed with the initals E.F.S.I.
