This powerful one line saying was brushed by Professor Terayama Tanchu during the last months of his life in 2006. The characters 'Yuen' are brushed in cursive script and can be translated as 'Infinite Space'. This calligraphy is brushed in the tradition of Zen Buddhist arts which are characteristically expressive of spiritual elements beyond the physical images and words represented.
