Artist/Maker
Place of origin

The Designers Republic set up this Tokyo shop in 2002 in response to growing demand for tDR and Warp Records related merchandise. Envisaged also as a way for the artists to better understand brand propaganda and the corporate market, they played the game very well with monthly sales rapidly exceeding £100,000. However, Ian Anderson of The Designers Republic reflected 'We'd sold out and it felt like we were selling out...I wanted to understand retail, not give my life to it', shortly after scaling back commercial production.
