Milk Jug

c. 1923 (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

This glamorous ‘Campanula’ tea and coffee set, designed by Paul Follot (1877-1941), is an unusual example of Art Deco at Wedgwood. Follot’s designs are elegant and opulent with a richness of materials and decoration. These wares were labour intensive and required exceptional skill to produce, making the Follot pieces for Wedgwood especially rare, in fact, no other objects of this pattern or shape are known to exist. Acquired from the estate of fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld (1933-2019), the ‘Campanula’ set reflects the taste of its collector and was probably used by Lagerfeld as it showed some signs of wear and needed conservation.
