This is a bronze medal made by Alphée Dubois (1831-1905) in France, 1867. The medal commemorated the consecretion of the Church of St. Augustin on 28th May 1868. The obverse of the medal represents the laureated profile head of the Emperor Napoleon III, and the reverse shows the view of the Church of St. Augustin.
Dubois was a pupil of J J Barre and Duret. He won the Prix de Rome in 1855, and showed medals at the Salons of 1868 and 1869. In 1883 he was elected Knight of the Légion d'Honneur. His son was Henri Dubois who also became a medalist.
