Object history | The 'Kilta' earthenware range was launched in 1952 by Kaj Franck and issued in a limited number of colours-white, black, green, blue and yellow. In the post-war austerity this earthenware range was intended to be a basic and inexpensive everyday ware. It was designed to be once-fired thereby keeping the production costs to a minimum. Kaj Franck's designs used basic geometric forms-squares, spheres, cones etc. He intended the small shapes to have more than one purpose and be anonymous enough so that they could be used not only with Kilta series but with other designs as well. |
