Physical description | Chest of drawers, English, early 18th century. Walnut with brass lock plates and handles. Folding table top, the folder supported when open by a pair of slides flanking the top drawer. Four long drawers (parts 2-5). Square bracket feet. Note on departmental register, 28th June 1982: 'strip of veneer missing'. According to Mr Facey, restorer, 6/11/1980, 'top is early 20th-century oak veneer replacement.' |

Early 18th century ) 2/4/47 correspondence from Miss Adams executor condition of these pieces is noted: Walnut Bachelors chest drs. - no keys. Foot broken off, veneer split & missing. Walnut Tallboy - veneer missing, no keys 30/4/47 minute, Edwards describes the Bachelors chest (W.17) as "of a type not represented in the collections". |
