Place of origin |
A jacket and skirt made with jacquard-weave damask style synthetic silk. A short jacket with three panels and a flared hem, the fullness controlled at the shoulders with a section of elasticated smocking or shirring. Stand collar extending into short ties. Opens centre front with narrow facing of self-fabric. Very full elbow length sleeves, each cut from one piece of fabric with deep gathers into shoulder seam, narrow cuffs each stitched subsequently by the wearer to achieve tighter fit.
The jacket has a small black synthetic twill covered shoulder pad stitched into each shoulder seam.
The skirt is fitted at the waist and made of 6 panels which flare out to full length. It closes with a zip and a small hook and eye set to the left of the centre-back. The hem is hand stitched. There are two black cotton skirt hangers set into the waist band. The ensemble is unlabelled but the donor has stated that it is by Lee Bender for Bus Stop, and it is consistent with the style and type of garments made by Bus Stop.
