The artist Sophie de Stempel (b.1960) was the sitter for this print, and a regular model for Freud in the 1980s. She was also the sitter for 'Head and Shoulders of a Girl' (see E.830-2023). This print was proofed and printed by Terry Wilson at Palm Tree Editions, but later in 1985 Freud began to work exclusively with Marc Balakjian at Studio Prints.

The edition was proofed and printed by Terry Wilson at Palm Tree Edition in 1985, but the cancellation proof was probably printed by Marc Balakjian at Studio Prints in 1986.
