Object history
Historical significance: A copy of a triton candlestick made by Wedgwood from 1769, one that lacks the Berniniesque torsion and force of the original. Wedgwood borrowed the original model for his version from the architect Sir William Chambers, for whom the metalworker D.N. Anderson had been making triton candlesticks. Wedgwood's design was later also pirated by Wood & Caldwell.

Purchased by Lady Charlotte Schreiber from Dirksen, The Hague, for £4 10 shillings in October 1873
Production
Label - copied from one of Wedgwoods models.
