  • '192' (pattern number) (Fake pattern number painted (overglaze) in purple on underside of cup)

Production
This cup and saucer appear to be Worcester porcelain to which fake Derby marks were added at some later date. Note that the anchor intersecting D was used until 1783, but that pattern numbers were not painted onto the wares until about 1784. These pieces are discussed in Stephen Mitchell, The Marks on Chelse-Derby and early Crossed-Batons useful wares, 1770-c.1790 (2007), p.68 and pl. 52(ii).
