Production | This cup and saucer appear to be Worcester porcelain to which fake Derby marks were added at some later date. Note that the anchor intersecting D was used until 1783, but that pattern numbers were not painted onto the wares until about 1784. These pieces are discussed in Stephen Mitchell, The Marks on Chelse-Derby and early Crossed-Batons useful wares, 1770-c.1790 (2007), p.68 and pl. 52(ii). |
