Jug of enamelled soft-paste porcelain. Pear shaped ribbed body with angular shoulder and scroll handle, at the top a narrow border of moulded leaves. Applied moulded mask of a man in a tricorne hat. Painted in enamels with bouquets and sprays of flowers.

Physical description
Jug of enamelled soft-paste porcelain. Pear shaped ribbed body with angular shoulder and scroll handle, at the top a narrow border of moulded leaves. Applied moulded mask of a man in a tricorne hat. Painted in enamels with bouquets and sprays of flowers.

Object history
The mask has previously been identified as Lord Rodney. However, it does not have his features, and the jug predates 1782, the date of the Rodney jugs, by many years.

Probably decorated outside the factory by an independent enameller (see References)
