Object history | Redgrave and Cope (see cat.no. 62b) were life-long friends and next-door neighbours for many years in Kensington. In 1838, they stayed at Mortham Tower, near Rokeby in Yorkshire, and clearly sat side-by-side to sketch these two views of the interior, which differ only in the fact that in Cope's the door to the garden is shut, while in Redgrave's, it is open. |
