This set for the 'Enchanted Palace of Dresden China and Crystal' was created by T.E. Ryan for Joseph Hansen's ballet Dresdina at the Alhambra Theatre, London, in 1886. At the end of the run it was sold to Bolossy Kiralfy who used it for a 'Dresdina Ballet' in his production of La Patrie, which opened at the Chestnut Street Theatre, Philadelphia, on 1 September 1887.

Physical description
Photograph of an elaborate full-stage setting with decorative flowers and female figures. Chandeliers hang at centre. In a curtained recess at the rear of the stage is a structure of four steps decorated with plates, on which is a large 'shell', and, above, on a concealed platform, a group of four people sit and stand.

Photograph from the Jacobi Collection. The Jacobi Collection was given by the Ballet Guild to London Archives of the Dance. It came to the V&A when the museum acquired the London Archives of the Dance collections.
