Place of origin |
The photograph is believed to be of Edward Jozef Kurylo (1883-1938), a Polish dancer who was a pupil of Enrico Cecchetti. He had an international career and in 1911-12 he was a soloist and ballet master for the Empire Theatre, London. It is likely that he is photographed in costume for Lydia Kyasht's ballet The Water Nymph, which premiered on 2 April 1912.
