Place of origin |
Rich Mnisi is a Johannesburg-based designer, and founder of the eponymous label RICH MNISI. These pieces come from Mnisi’s PRIDE collection, launched in June 2021 to coincide with LGBTQIA+ Pride month. 10% of all profits from the collection go towards Pride Shelter Trust in Cape Town, South Africa, a charity which provides emergency short-term accommodation to members of the LGBTQIA+ community. The multicolour zebra stripe print is a key feature of the collection, the colour palette referencing the LGBTQIA+ rainbow flag. It is an adaptation of the zebra print design often found in Mnisi’s collections. The blue, white, and pink variation used on the mesh top references the Transgender Pride Flag designed by Monica Helms in 1999.
