Moschino launched its first scent in 1987: Moschino Eau de Toilette. It wasn't until nine years later, two years after the death of their founder, Franco Moschino, that the label produced its second and third scents, 'Cheap and Chic' and 'Oh! De Moschino'.
The Cheap and Chic scent tied in with the ready-to-wear collection of the same name. This was first introduced in 1988, a diffusion line that nonetheless retained the hallmarks of the label's classic designs. According to Moschino, Cheap and Chic was aimed at 'the young and the young at heart'.
The cosmetic packaging for the range combines these two aspects of youth and playfulness. The bottle, designed by Pierre Dinand, was inspired by the silhouette of the comic character, Olive Oyl, with the shiny black cap taking the form of her signature, elongated hairstyle.
