Object history
The fragment is from the rim of a dish. The pale body, with the darker schistic inclusions is proof of a Málaga origin, and this could well be an example of later Málaga lustreware of the early fifteenth century. The slanting arcade is found on fragments from the Alcazba in Málaga. Many fragmentary pieces with a vertical version of this arcaded motif, including the blue stroke, have been found in a fifteenth-century context in Genoa, though on these the lustre has almost entirely worn away. The motif is also found on fragments form the south of France. Ray (2000).
