This gilt bronze medal bears a portrait of Michel Letellier, Lord Chancellor of France (1603- 1685). Letellier served as Chancellor of France from 1677 and while in office he transformed the royal army into a larger and more professional force. It is by Francois Bertinet, a French sculptor active in the later part of the seventeenth century.
