Production | The plate is part of a series bearing the arms of the Counts of Braunschweig-Lüneburg, as used between 1636 and about 1680, all of which are marked "IW". The central scene depicting the Rape of the Sabines, closely follows a print by Cherubino Alberti after Polidoro da Caravaggio. |
