'IW' in monogram (Painted in blue The mark is for Jacob Wemmersz. Hoppestyn, part-owner (from 1659) and full owner from 1664 to 1671 of het Moriaenshooft and succeeded by his widdow Jannetge Claesdr. van Straten until 1686)

The plate is part of a series bearing the arms of the Counts of Braunschweig-Lüneburg, as used between 1636 and about 1680, all of which are marked "WI".
The central scene depicting the Rape of the Sabines, closely follows a print by Cherubino Alberti after Polidoro da Caravaggio.
