Tamara Karsavina (1885-1978) was a ballerina who danced with the Imperial Ballet in St Petersburg, with Serge Diaghilev's Ballets Russes and on a freelance basis. The London Coliseum became a significant stage for her freelance performances in Britain which became her home from 1918. As a freelance performer she worked with a number of British artist-designers and composers including Paul Nash and Arnold Bax for Barrie's short play with dancing.
