Pear-shaped body, wide neck, scroll handle, with pewter mounts, lid, thumb-piece and foot-ring. In a landscape with trees in the foreground and middle distance, and a distant mountain to the right of the principal group, the Virgin is depicted, seated, clad in full-fashioned garments, the Child lying on her knees reaching upwards with his right hand. To the right, St. John is standing, holding a lamb. Behind him a small cross with a serpent.

Brief description
Tankard of earthenware covered with a tin glaze, painted in black (Schwarzlot) and mounted in pewter. Painted by Wolfgang Rössler in Nuremberg. German, probably made at Hanau, about 1675-80.
