The photograph of Vaslav Nijinsky's wedding shows, in the foreground left to right, Ekaterina Oblokova, Dmitri de Gunsbourg, Josefina Kovalevska, Romola and Vaslav Nijinsky, Albert KIng, Mme and M Rhene-Baton.
Nijinsky's marriage to Romola de Pulszky, a wealthy Hungarian ballet groupie and aspiring dancer employed for small roles in the Ballets Russes, led to his dismissal from the company. This photograph was taken after the ceremony, at the Majestic Hotel in Buenos Aires. Diaghilev, busy in Europe and reluctant to travel by sea, was absent during this first South American tour by the Ballets Russes - with dramatic results.
