Place of origin |
On the boss, within a laurel wreath, a phoenix rising from flames. The bottom is painted with symmetrical foliated voluted terminating in dolphins' heads, against a blue ground through which fine stems and small leaves have been scratched. On the rim, in medallion separated by leafy scrolls ending in demi-figures of cupids, satyrs' heads or sea-horses, in reserve on a yellow ground, are half-figures of St.Francis, holding a book and cross, St. Clara with a lily, St. Elizabeth with roses in both hands, and another Franciscan saint, probably St. Anthony of Padua, holding a heart.
