Els Martens (born 1978)

Stek
2018

How do we look at a photograph of a place when there are no anchor points? In her work, Martens plays with perspective, denying viewers a horizon or sense of scale. This brings to the fore the unreliability of the landscape and prevents the viewer from gaining a sense of orientation.
