Object history | Purchase: Soulages Collection. |
Production | JVG Mallet 25/10/05 Somewhat similar in shape to an ewer at the Musee des Art Decoratifs at Lyon, published as Nevers by Robert de Micheaux, Revue du Louvre No. 2, 1972, pp. 85-88. From engraving by Philippe Galle after Stradanus. See also Robert Boulay, Cahiers de la Ceramique, No. 22, 1961. Original Stradanus drawing is at Lyon also. But the attribution of Lyon Ewer to Nevers seems to rest on mere assertion. |
