Object history
Purchased with 404 to 406 and 408-1888 for £10 the group from J. T. Heath, Esq., 19 Charterhouse Street, Holborn Circus, London, R.F.2526/1888. A Japanese copper bowl 116-1888 was acquired from the vendor at the same time, for £4. A number of other drug pots and four metal bowls were acquired from the vendor as School Examples.
Production
A very similar albarello with incriptions "V.M. 1711" and "ALLA MONTAGNA" is in the possession of M. F. Murley, M.P.S., The Pharmacy, Fawley, Wants. Possibly the date is that of the foundation of the pharmacy. ("Ung. Petorale").
Another of similar form and style belonging to the Pharmaceutical Society - photos of both are in the Dept. Collection.
