Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Kerplunk was first manufactured in 1967, designed by Renee Soriano and Eddy Goldfarb, and was originally marketed by the American company, the Ideal Toy Company.

Goldfarb has designed over 800 toys, including Yakity Yak Talking Teeth, Battling Tops, and Stompers. He was one of the first inventors to licence his ideas to more than one company and not just Ideal Toys, which was uncommon in the 1940s and 50s, when designers typically worked with one toy company.

The game is played by inserting coloured plastic sticks into the holes in the central plastic tube, above which are placed several marbles that sit on the lattice of sticks. The goal of the game is to remove the sticks from their formation without allowing the marbles to fall through, so the player with the fewest marbles at the end is the winner.
