Poole observes that a similar albarello is depicted in a painting by Giovanni de Paolo (altarpiece in Siena, dated after 1453) Poole, J.E., Italian maiolica and incised slipware in the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, 1995. Fig.1, p.109.
