The sitter of this bust by Richard Westmacott the Younger is Richard Ellison (1788 - 1860), who was a patron of the arts and a collector of watercolours.

Richard Westmacott the Younger R.A. (1799-1872) was one of the Westmacott family of sculptors. He first exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts in London in 1827. He was elected as member of the Royal Academy in 1849, and in 1857 he took over the role of Professor of Sculpture there from his father Sir Richard Westmacott. This bust was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1855.

Object history
Given by Mrs Elizabeth Ellison, the widow of the sitter. Received together with the Ellison gift of pictures in 1861, but not formally registered until 1881.

Richard Westmacott the Younger R.A. (1799-1872) was one of the Westmacott family of sculptors. He first exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts in London in 1827. He was elected as member of the Royal Academy in 1849, and in 1857 he took over the role of Professor of Sculpture there from his father Sir Richard Westmacott. This bust was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1855.
