Presented at the 13th National Dance Awards at The Place's Robin Howard Dance Theatre, London, on 28th January 2013. The accompanying programme contains details of the award ceremony for the year 1 September 2011 to 31 August 2012. The awards are decided by nominations and voting by 60 members of the dance section of the Critics' Circle.

Robert Cohan (1925-2021) was a pioneer of the teaching of contemporary dance and had a significant influence on the development of contemporary dance in the UK. He was the first Artistic Director of the Contemporary Dance Trust and, as such, was the founding Artistic Director of The Place, London Contemporary Dance School and London Contemporary Dance Theatre (LCDT). He choreographed new works for companies across the world and taught at leading dance schools, colleges and universities.

Physical description
Clear plastic, rectangular award printed with the Critics' Circle logo set within the number 100 at the top. Also printed with 'National Dance Awards Critics' Circle' in a red square to the right side of the logo; and the award recipient, award name and year along the lower section of the award. A signed sketch of a male dancer in the centre of the award, coloured in hues of reds, oranges, yellows and browns. The folded paper programme features this same drawing on the front cover and contains the printed details of the award ceremony inside.
